Based in Dublin, Ireland or fully remote within Ireland, you'll work on a collaborative team championing inclusivity and innovation. Key Responsibilities at MongoDB

• Architect and build mongosync, the core database migration and syncing tool heavily utilized by MongoDB Atlas and on-prem customers.
• Develop and maintain MongoDB Database Tools – essential CLI utilities for importing, exporting data, and running diagnostics on MongoDB deployments.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, support teams, and engineers to design features that delight customers.
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and drive technical best practices across the team.
• Lead design and implementation of major features for cluster-to-cluster synchronization, ensuring scalability and fault tolerance.
• Contribute to ongoing projects, fix critical bugs, and optimize performance in high-traffic distributed environments.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle from ideation to production deployment.
• Champion distributed systems reliability for data replication, transactions, and disaster recovery scenarios.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed in this Senior Software Engineer role at MongoDB, you'll need:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, building, testing, and maintaining industrial-strength software.
• Demonstrated experience building databases or core components for data processing systems.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems – data replication, distributed transactions, scalability, and fault tolerance.
• Proficiency in at least one compiled language (C++, Rust, Java) with strong interest in Go programming.
• Exceptional technical communication skills and proven ability to collaborate and mentor engineers.
• Proven curiosity and rapid learning ability in computer science and software engineering domains.

Success Measures: In 3 months, master MongoDB and mongosync while shipping bug fixes. By 6 months, lead feature development and code reviews. Within 12 months, own major features and mentor new hires.
