As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll work on critical production services that monitor the entire technology stack of Fortune 500 enterprises. Key Responsibilities at Datadog

Datadog engineers own their services end-to-end. Here's what you'll do daily:

• Solve scaling bottlenecks in critical services handling petabytes of telemetry data
• Deploy features to production using progressive rollouts, feature flags, and canary deployments
• Investigate and fix production incidents from services your team owns, using Datadog's own observability tools
• Design scalable architectures to support 10x traffic growth without downtime
• Plan quarterly roadmaps with your team to prioritize the highest-impact projects
• Build and optimize data pipelines processing metrics, traces, and logs at massive scale
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, other engineering teams, and customers
• Leverage AI coding tools to accelerate development and enhance problem-solving workflows
• Work with distributed systems including Redis, Cassandra, Kafka, and custom high-throughput services

Qualifications & Requirements

We're looking for battle-tested engineers who can deliver at scale:

• 6+ years of software engineering experience in production systems
• Deep expertise in one+ languages like Go, C, Python, or similar (bonus for multiple)
• Proven track record designing high-scale architecture for distributed systems
• Strong focus on code simplicity and performance optimization
• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or scientific field (or equivalent experience)
• Thrives in high-growth startup environments that respect engineers and customers

Bonus Qualifications:

• Experience with Redis, Cassandra, Kafka at production scale
• Built custom data pipelines for observability or analytics
• Strong statistics/ML background for metrics analysis
• Excitement about AI tools for coding and engineering workflows
