Key Responsibilities at Datadog

• Build and operate distributed, high-throughput, real-time data pipelines handling trillions of security events daily.
• Develop scalable backend services primarily in Java and Go, with Python for automation and scripting.
• Architect and optimize Kafka streaming pipelines and Elasticsearch clusters for cloud security workloads.
• Own end-to-end development of critical Cloud Security platform components.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with DevOps, security, and product teams to launch innovative features.
• Enhance Workload Security, Posture Management, Application Security Monitoring, and Cloud SIEM products.
• Drive performance optimizations and reliability for always-on security monitoring.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate coding, debugging, and problem-solving workflows.
• Participate in on-call rotations to maintain platform availability for global customers.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed as a Senior Software Engineer on our Cloud Security team, you'll need:

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or scientific field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years backend programming experience in Java, Go, Python, or similar languages.
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems, streaming platforms (Kafka), and search engines (Elasticsearch).
• Ability to dive into low-level systems programming for performance-critical components.
• Passion for code simplicity, performance, and engineering best practices.
