Our Platform & Developer Experience teams build the foundational tools and systems that power every aspect of our product suite, enabling thousands of engineers to deliver world-class observability solutions. As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you'll design and maintain shared UI libraries, build pipelines, design systems like Druids, and developer tooling relied upon by hundreds daily.

Work closely with frontend engineers company-wide to understand workflows, eliminate pain points, and drive improvements in reliability, performance, and engineering velocity. Key Responsibilities at Datadog

• Design and implement core frontend platform components including shared UI libraries, build systems, and performance tooling for cloud-scale applications.
• Develop and maintain internal developer tools that accelerate engineering workflows and promote consistency across observability products.
• Lead architectural decisions for frontend infrastructure emphasizing scalability, developer experience, and integration with Datadog's monitoring stack.
• Establish and promote best practices for testing, accessibility, performance optimization, and frontend standards in a DevOps environment.
• Build CI/CD tooling, local development environments, and automation supporting fast, reliable code delivery for global teams.
• Mentor engineers and serve as technical leader for frontend tooling, platform design, and cloud-native frontend development.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to identify workflow pain points and uncover opportunities for new features enhancing developer productivity.
• Drive company-wide improvements in reliability, performance, and velocity while shaping frontend standards for Datadog's SaaS platform.
• Contribute to design systems like Druids, powering intuitive UIs for infrastructure monitoring, APM, and security solutions.

Qualifications & Requirements

• 6+ years experience building large-scale frontend systems, preferably in platform or developer experience roles at high-growth SaaS companies.
• Expert-level JavaScript/TypeScript proficiency with deep knowledge of modern frontend frameworks like React.
• Advanced experience with frontend build tools, bundlers (Rspack, esbuild, Lage), and CI/CD workflows in cloud environments.
• Proven success building internal tools, component libraries, or design systems for large engineering organizations.
• Strong leadership skills to lead cross-team initiatives and drive adoption of platform standards.
• Passion for reliability, performance optimization, and crafting exceptional developer experiences in observability platforms.
