Key Responsibilities at Rivian

As a senior contributor, you'll take ownership of Rivian's infrastructure ecosystem. Here are your core responsibilities:

• Lead, build, test, and release complex mission-critical infrastructure services for the ADAS team across cloud and on-premise environments.
• Setup fault-tolerant multi-region environments optimized for data operations and high-performance data applications.
• Own end-to-end CI/CD pipelines for applications and data projects, implementing GitOps with tools like GitHub Actions and ArgoCD.
• Define on-call strategies and actively participate in production on-call rotations to maintain 24/7 system reliability.
• Build highly reliable, scalable distributed infrastructure using microservice architecture on Kubernetes (EKS) and AWS ECS.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with ADAS engineering, data science, and product teams for seamless integrations.
• Drive AWS cost optimization strategies across multiple accounts, services like S3, RDS, and compute resources.
• Automate and streamline processes through expert-level scripting in Python, Go, or Java.
• Monitor production systems using Datadog, Prometheus, and AWS CloudWatch for proactive issue detection.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and debug complex production incidents swiftly.

Qualifications & Requirements

Rivian seeks proven senior talent with hands-on experience in production environments. Required qualifications include:

• 4+ years in software engineering or DevOps roles, with demonstrated impact on mission-critical systems.
• 4+ years experience authoring, scaling, and managing production infrastructure at enterprise scale.
• Extensive programming proficiency in Python, Go, or Java for infrastructure automation.
• Deep expertise with Kubernetes, CI/CD tools, and full AWS stack including networking, compute (EKS/ECS), S3, RDS, EFS, Secrets Manager, and CloudTrail.
• Infra as Code mastery, preferably with Terraform for configuration management.
• Production monitoring experience with Datadog, AWS CloudWatch, or Prometheus.
• Strong debugging skills for production systems and RCA on critical incidents.
• CI/CD and GitOps implementation using Gitlab CI, GitHub Actions, or ArgoCD.

Plus qualifications: Linux internals, networking, distributed computing, AWS/Cloud Native certifications, and Agile development practices.

Salary & Benefits
