Role Overview

The Senior Specialist, Quality Control – Microbiology position at Cardinal Health's Indianapolis Theranostics Commercial site is a pivotal role in our Quality Control team. Reporting to Quality leadership, you'll apply your expertise in microbiology to ensure product compliance with stringent regulatory standards. This full-time position involves hands-on testing, monitoring, and collaboration across departments. Key Responsibilities

In this role, you'll drive quality assurance through precise execution of microbiological processes. Key duties include:

  • Performing various microbiological testing procedures in adherence to Manufacturing/QC batch records, protocols, and test methods.
  • Conducting environmental monitoring in controlled and classified manufacturing and testing areas to maintain sterility.
  • Collaborating with project managers, manufacturing, and QA teams to ensure timely sample testing and product release.
  • Identifying and reporting Out of Specification (OOS), Out of Trend (OOT) results, and other non-conformances to management.
  • Participating in investigations, validation, calibration, and troubleshooting of lab equipment, resolving issues proactively.

Additional responsibilities encompass data review, trending, reporting, laboratory upkeep, and adherence to Good Documentation, Laboratory, and Manufacturing Practices (GMP). You'll support compliance and productivity goals, with desirable experience in authoring SOPs, test methods, change controls, CAPAs, deviations, and lab investigations.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum 2-4 years in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, with emphasis in QC microbiology, environmental monitoring, critical systems monitoring, quality control, or aseptic manufacturing.
  • Competency in computer programs like Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • General knowledge of cGMP regulations and industry standards.

This level applies working knowledge to moderate-scope projects, identifies solutions to technical problems, and works under general guidance with judgment within defined parameters.
