Recent projects include POCs for ultra-performant RPC stack architecture and OpenTelemetry integration to accelerate performance issue diagnosis. This role offers Palo Alto, California office location or fully remote work across North America. Key Responsibilities at MongoDB

  • Lead architecture and implementation of low-level networking components driving MongoDB Server performance, scalability, cost-efficiency, and resiliency
  • Design observability improvements using OpenTelemetry enabling MongoDB engineers and customers to quickly diagnose production issues
  • Handle complex networking-related customer escalations from Technical Support and coach teammates
  • Write production-ready C++ database code, improve existing codebase, and mentor team for higher code quality
  • Own all Networking & Observability Team code ensuring security, durability, availability, performance, and maintainability standards
  • Develop unit and integration tests in C++, JavaScript, Python demonstrating correctness
  • Diagnose test failures, fix bugs, prevent regressions, and investigate performance impacts of code changes
  • Lead largest company projects, collaborate cross-functionally, interview candidates, and shape technical roadmaps

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 12+ years experience programming, debugging, performance tuning distributed/highly concurrent C/C++ software systems
  • Expert systems fundamentals: multi-threaded programming, performance profiling, network programming
  • Database internals familiarity or core components for data processing systems
  • Observability ecosystem knowledge including OpenTelemetry best practices
  • Excellent communication skills, collaboration, mentoring passion
