SGS Netherlands is looking for a Marine & Ship Vetting Services Employee. Do you have experience as a Deck Officer or 1st mate on board an oil, chemical or gas tanker? Then we are looking for you!

As a Marine & Ship Vetting Services employee, you will check online at the customer's request, using various systems, whether the ship falls within the standards in terms of safety and quality. To this end, you will make, among other things: use of the following systems: CDI, OCIMF/SIRE, and various settings related to vetting.

Here's what you'll be doing:

  • Follow-up and execution of the daily ship vetting requests of the clients;
  • Initiating and approving ship inspections at the request of our clients in consultation with the ship owners;
  • Appointing and communicating with internal and external inspectors;
  • Evaluating and reviewing inspection reports;
  • Testing ships at the Port State Controls;
  • Testing the quality of the classification office, flag state and operator;
  • Making analyses of shipping accidents and adjusting the status of the ship.

Qualifications

Because you have worked as a Deck Officer or 1st mate, you are familiar with the daily practice on board ships and you have knowledge of different ship types, navigation, cargo handling and safety procedures. You have an excellent knowledge of the English language, both verbally and in writing.

In order to be able to serve our clients in the right way, the Marine & Ship Vetting Services department works in alternating shifts, so some flexibility in availability is required of you. Do you like to work in the office, from home or from another location? Hybrid working is possible in this department!

We would like to see the following knowledge and experience on your CV:

  • A completed college education in a nautical field;
  • Experience as a Deck Officer or Mate on board oil, chemicals and gas tankers.
