Primary Responsibilities:

The pressure vessels (CE marking) review engineer is responsible to ensure that all pressure vessels are manufactured in compliance with design requirements, applicable codes (EN 13445, ASME VIII), and the European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED), by reviewing and validating technical documentation, welding procedures, and certifications required for CE marking.

  • At all times, complies with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.
  • Review of Manufacturing Data Books (MDB):
    • Review pressure vessel MDBs according to applicable codes (EN 13445 or ASME VIII) to verify conformity, completeness, and traceability of materials, processes, and tests.
    • Ensure all manufacturing documentation meets PED requirements.
    • Identify and resolve any deviations or missing information prior to final approval.
  • Report and Certification Management:
    • Issue or review technical reports related to pressure vessels.
    • Prepare and submit documentation to SGS Portugal or other notified bodies for final CE marking approval.
    • Maintain accurate records of reviews, approvals, and comments.
  • Review of Welding Procedures and Personnel Qualification:
    • Review PQRs (Procedure Qualification Records) and WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications) to ensure compliance with applicable codes.
    • Review welder qualification records to ensure conformity with standards.
    • Coordinate updates or revisions as required.
  • Technical Support and Regulatory Compliance:
    • Advise design and manufacturing teams on regulatory requirements and required documentation for CE marking.
    • Ensure that all inspections, non-destructive testing (NDT), and pressure tests are properly documented.
    • Stay updated on changes in codes, pressure vessel standards, and industry best practices.
  • Develops skills and knowledge to progress in your career.
  • Develops trust by providing timely responses to all inquiries, whether by Teams, email, or phone.
  • Promotes a positive “Can do!” attitude and a safe working environment.
  • Be knowledgeable and compliant with SGS procedures and standards.
  • Takes initiative in all we do and perform other duties as required to further SGS mission of service, quality and growth.
  • Builds and maintains strong working relationships.
  • Performs other related duties as may be assigned either in support of departmental goals or for his/her personal or professional training, education or development as programmed by his/her immediate superior.
  • Ensures work area in GBS is kept clean and presentable at all times.
  • Remains familiar with SGS quality assurance procedures.
  • Complies to all SGS QHSE and HR policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Prior experience is mandatory:
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in QA/QC files creation and/or revision
    • Minimum 2 years of experience on pressure vessel main international codes (ASME VIII, EN13445)
    • Minimum 2 years of experience on welding and NDT standards
  • Prior experience is preferred:
    • Experience in PED directive requirements.
  • English write and read fluency
  • English spoken effective level for technical meetings (B2)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in technical reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of integrity and sense of responsibility.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills in remote and multidisciplinary environments.
