Description

This position is responsible for being a technical asset for SGS Food Testing Service, North American Operations, serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).   As an SME, duties may include the following: Quality Management System, ISO/IEC 17025, method validations, assessment of client data, instrumentation expertise/troubleshooting, performing technical internal audits, and/or monitoring proficiency testing performance.

  • Participate in the establishment or improvement of methods through validations, verifications and transfers in alignment with the current technical requirements of ISO/IEC 17025.
  • Prepare technical templates for protocols and procedures as applicable.
  • Provide technical expertise, instrumentation expertise, and troubleshooting guidance as a SME.
  • Monitor internal QC and PT performance for biases in local laboratory
  • Prepare statistical data evaluation for client complaints, audit findings, PT/RR performance and/or quality control failures as assigned
  • As a SME, support special network-related projects as assigned by the Site or Technical Director.
  • Provides guidance and/or leadership to others, including indirect reports, peers, or managers
  • Support three labs in Burnaby, Harrisburg and North Sioux City.
  • This is an advisory role, helping the local teams navigate new validations and setups.
  • Provides direction for method troubleshooting validation / verification / transfer.
  • Assure conformance level is maintained for technical requirements of Quality Management System irrespective of operational and production pressures.

Qualifications

  • Education: A minimum of a BSc degree (or equivalent work experience)
  • Previous experience in validation and verification of methods
  • Previous experience with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements
  • Previous experience in a Quality Control related role
  • High-end Instrumentation Background (HPLC, GC, ICP, MS, etc.)
  • Must have proven technical experience and knowledge in analytical laboratory operations
  • Must have experience and expertise in data analysis and statistical evaluation
  • Relevant technical knowledge in ISO/IEC 17025
  • Must be able to multitask and schedule on time delivery: Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.

Additional Information

Salary: $69k to $92k
