Role Overview

As a Shift Technician at PepsiCo's Cupar facility, you'll deliver reactive, proactive, and preventative engineering support to ensure optimal plant availability and reliability. This role demands flexibility in a fast-paced, ever-changing manufacturing environment within the FMCG sector. Utilise your leadership, innovation, and problem-solving skills to execute the asset maintenance strategy and improvement programme. Work shifts, handle activities like working at height and confined spaces, and contribute to a site proud of its 100+ year oats milling legacy.

Job Purpose

Provide engineering support to manufacturing operations, driving key KPIs through fault prevention, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement. Salary: £49,803.74 including shift allowance.

Key Responsibilities

Shift Technicians must adapt to business needs. Core duties include:

• Performing planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance using Electrical, Control System, and Mechanical skills.
• Supporting reliability efforts: identifying failure modes, leading RCA for losses, and delivering actions.
• Proactively preventing faults and pursuing continuous improvement to meet site KPIs.
• Coaching Front Line teams (GO, MT) in technical and problem-solving skills.
• Assisting site projects, change initiatives, and issuing Permits to Work (PTW).
• Managing contractor activities via risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
• Documenting shift handovers and detailed CMMS (SAP) reports for fault analysis.
• Handling high-risk tasks: working at height, confined spaces, hot work, and fire investigations.

Decision-making involves prioritising workloads, raising purchase requisitions, and coaching without direct reports.

Qualifications & Requirements

To excel:

• Essential: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent time-served Engineer with hands-on experience; strong electro-mechanical aptitude.
• Desirable: HNC or equivalent in Electrical/Mechanical; Recognised Electrical Qualification (e.g., 18th Edition); PLC knowledge (Allen Bradley/Siemens); FMCG/high-volume production experience.
• Excellent diagnostic skills with data analysis; CMMS/SCADA proficiency; computer literate (Word, Excel); influencing, communication, and calm under pressure.
• Team player with continuous improvement mindset, able to prioritise in breakdowns.
