Our Legal & Policy Team acts as Snap’s in-house advisors, guiding innovative products while navigating complex risks in privacy, content, and compliance. We’re seeking an Associate General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer for Snap India to champion compliance in this dynamic AR and camera ecosystem, ensuring our creative tools comply with Indian laws while fostering our Kind, Smart, and Creative culture. Reporting to Snap’s Chief Compliance Officer, you’ll lead compliance for Snap India, spearheading adherence to the Information Technology Act, 2000, and Intermediary Guidelines. Partner with local and global teams in Legal, Public Policy, Trust & Safety, and beyond to handle government interactions, law enforcement, and user grievances. Stay ahead of regulations impacting privacy, content moderation, and AR innovations across India and APAC, while implementing Snap’s global integrity programs—including anti-bribery and code-of-conduct initiatives—with localized oversight and risk assessments. You’ll guide business ambassadors, support cross-functional AR product launches, and ensure our camera-first experiences remain compliant and cutting-edge. This role demands flexibility for off-hours emergencies, quarterly travel, and collaboration across time zones. What You'll Do

  • Serve as Snap India’s Chief Compliance Officer, ensuring full compliance with India’s Intermediary Guidelines and other applicable laws
  • Report to Snap’s global Chief Compliance Officer and partner with local India teams and global functions including Legal, Public Policy, Trust & Safety, and Law Enforcement Operations
  • Provide guidance to teams handling government coordination, law enforcement requests, and user grievances in India
  • Monitor and advise on current and emerging regulations in privacy, law enforcement access, content moderation, and user protections across India and APAC
  • Liaise with Snap’s Global Compliance team to implement and oversee the integrity and compliance program in APAC and EMEA regions
  • Lead localized implementation of Snap’s Anti-Bribery, conflict-of-interest, code-of-conduct, and other compliance programs
  • Conduct in-country and regional risk assessments to proactively manage compliance risks
  • Support and guide Snap’s integrity and compliance business ambassadors in APAC and EMEA
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and AR teams to ensure camera technology, Snapchat, Lens Studio, and Spectacles comply with regulations
  • Advise on compliance for innovative AR features that empower creative expression and real-time communication

Minimum Qualifications

  • J.D. degree or foreign equivalent
  • 12+ years of relevant legal and compliance experience
  • National of India
  • Deep knowledge of India’s Information Technology Act, 2000, and Information Technology Guidelines for Intermediaries and Digital Media Ethics Code Rules, 2021 (Intermediary Guidelines)
  • Experience serving as a Chief Compliance Officer or equivalent role
  • Proven ability to liaise with government agencies and law enforcement in India
  • Willingness to work off-hours, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Ability to travel quarterly to regional or global headquarters

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in at least one Indian language and English
  • Proven track record maintaining relationships with government agencies and stakeholders in privacy, content moderation, and compliance
  • Experience at a fast-paced, growing international technology company
