As an Electrical Engineer, Spectacles, Level 3, you'll own critical aspects of hardware design for our AR glasses, ensuring seamless integration of camera systems, low-power electronics, and innovative AR features. You'll collaborate with RF, Product Design, Firmware, and cross-functional teams to develop prototypes, validate designs, and debug complex issues like signal integrity and power efficiency. Your work will directly contribute to next-gen Spectacles that empower users to live in the moment, learn about the world, and have fun together via Snapchat's visual messaging and AR platform. We're seeking a passionate engineer with strong fundamentals in electronic design and hands-on experience in consumer hardware. In our 'Default Together' environment, you'll thrive in an office 4+ days a week, fostering dynamic collaboration amid Snap's vibrant, inclusive culture. What You'll Do

  • Own schematic design, circuit review, stackup definition, and layout review for PCB, Flex, and Rigid Flex designs
  • Test and validate electrical designs for AR-enabled Spectacles
  • Work with senior engineers to debug hardware issues, including power quality, high-speed signal integrity, low-speed interface performance, and coexistence
  • Analyze circuits over process, variability, and temperature to ensure reliability in camera and AR systems
  • Develop electronic prototypes for innovative AR glasses concepts
  • Collaborate with RF, Product Design, Firmware, and cross-functional teams throughout the product development lifecycle
  • Support development builds onsite at external component suppliers and contract manufacturers
  • Contribute to pushing the boundaries of camera technology by overlaying computing on the real world
  • Participate in failure analysis to iterate on next-generation Spectacles hardware
  • Integrate electrical systems that enhance Snapchat's AR experiences in wearable form factors

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent years of experience
  • 1+ years of relevant experience in electrical or hardware engineering
  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals
  • Experience in electronic design, including component selection and schematic design
  • Familiarity with low power/battery operated designs
  • Experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, battery simulators, DMMs, and vector network analyzers
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 20%

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Experience developing consumer electronic devices
  • Experience with vendor communication
  • Experience with Cadence OrCAD and Allegro
