In this role, you'll ensure the precision and reliability of testing equipment that powers our AR glasses production, contributing directly to Snap's mission of empowering self-expression through cutting-edge camera and optical innovations. As a FAB Test Operations Engineer, you'll dive hands-on into maintaining and optimizing electrical continuity testers, custom electro-optical display testers, and advanced HVM AOI machines tailored for Spectacles' camera and display components. You'll troubleshoot issues, create optimized scan recipes, and develop procedures that keep our cleanroom operations running smoothly at scale. Your work will directly impact the quality of AR lenses and optics, enabling seamless real-world integrations that delight Snapchat users worldwide. What You'll Do

  • Provide primary maintenance and troubleshooting support for standard and custom electrical and optical testing machines, including electrical continuity testers and custom electro-optical display testers
  • Maintain and troubleshoot an advanced HVM Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) machine for Spectacles AR components
  • Identify and recommend optimizations for testing machines to enhance reliability and accuracy in AR glasses production
  • Create and optimize AOI scan recipes tailored to camera and display technologies in Spectacles
  • Write detailed production, troubleshooting, and maintenance procedures for fab test operations
  • Handle and replace electrical tester probe cards to ensure continuous production flow
  • Troubleshoot electrical and optical sources and sensors critical to Snap OS-powered AR glasses
  • Collaborate with the Process Engineering Team to support high-volume manufacturing of fifth-generation Spectacles
  • Analyze test data to drive improvements in AR innovation and camera technology quality
  • Ensure tool-to-tool matching and calibration for precise optical performance in real-world AR experiences

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of post-Bachelor’s mechanical or hardware engineering experience
  • Master’s degree in a technical field + 2+ years of post-grad mechanical or hardware engineering experience
  • PhD in a relevant technical field
  • Experience with testing displays
  • Comfortable spending several hours per day in a cleanroom suit
  • Familiarity with optical testing
  • Ability to perform data analysis to reveal trends and identify outliers
  • Understands principles of calibration and tool-to-tool matching

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • 1+ years experience with liquid crystal
  • Experience with advanced AOI machines
  • Basic-to-intermediate Python programming skills
