About the Role

Our Augmented Reality team powers immersive experiences across Snapchat, Lens Studio, and Spectacles, from innovative Lens features that transform everyday moments to cutting-edge machine learning for stunning scene effects. We're seeking an Interface Designer to join our AR team and drive the UX strategy for AR creation tools, democratizing access to AR innovation through AI and empowering a global community of creators. In this role, you'll define the strategic vision for UX across Snap's AR platforms, collaborating with Product Managers on Lens Studio to iterate solutions that make AR creation intuitive and fun. You'll work hand-in-hand with Engineering to prototype and launch interactive experiences, leveraging generative AI and LLMs to lower barriers for creators building camera-powered Lenses. From mentoring junior designers to evangelizing best practices, you'll shape the future of AR interfaces that bring magic to Snapchat and Spectacles. You'll gather user insights to refine tools, lead in ambiguous spaces with a keen eye for design, and ensure our AR experiences delight millions. What You'll Do

  • Define strategic vision for UX strategy across Snap’s AR creation tools, including Lens Studio
  • Work with Lens Studio Product Managers to iterate UX solutions and strategies for camera-based AR experiences
  • Democratize AR creation through generative AI and LLMs to empower creators on Snapchat and Spectacles
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering teams to build and execute on strategic UX initiatives for immersive AR lenses
  • Document and evangelize best UX practices at Snap to foster innovation in AR and camera technology
  • Provide feedback and guidance to other designers in crits and work sessions
  • Mentor younger designers to develop their skills and perspectives in AR interface design
  • Lead independently in large ambiguous spaces to advance Snap's AR mission
  • Gather and evaluate user requirements and behavior to refine AR creation tools
  • Prototype interactive experiences that enhance real-time camera AR interactions

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent years of work experience
  • 5+ years of UX/product design experience for web or desktop applications
  • Portfolio demonstrating exceptional UI/UX and Visual Design work
  • Hands-on experience with AI tools and applying them to solve UX problems at the consumer level
  • Knowledge of interface standards and guidelines
  • Ability to prototype interactive experiences
  • Experience gathering and evaluating user requirements and behavior

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background working with both internal and external partners and agencies
  • Experience working with Product and Engineering teams
  • Refined taste in art and an eye for design
