Our Spectacles team is pioneering fifth-generation standalone AR glasses powered by Snap OS, blending cutting-edge camera technology with see-through displays to revolutionize play, learning, and work. Join our creative culture as Manager, Electrical Engineering in Spectacles, where you'll lead hardware innovation that powers immersive AR experiences on Snapchat and beyond. In this role, you'll manage a team of 5-7 electrical engineers, driving the development of next-gen AR products from concept to high-volume production. Partner closely with Engineering, Product, Operations, Firmware, and Program Management to deliver robust EE designs optimized for camera-first AR hardware. Review schematics, layouts, and test plans while guiding your team through critical decisions in stackups, component selection, and architecture to ensure signal integrity, power efficiency, and scalability for wearable AR devices. You'll debug complex issues like high-speed SI, desense, and coexistence, fostering best practices in our fast-paced, collaborative environment. With up to 15% travel, you'll work hands-on with vendors to ship products that embody Snap's mission of fun, authentic expression. What You'll Do

  • Lead a project team of 5-7 electrical engineers developing next-generation Spectacles AR products and experiences
  • People manage engineers at varying career stages, providing mentorship and growth opportunities
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders in Engineering, Operations, Product, Test, Firmware, and Program Management to deliver EE milestones
  • Collaborate with contract manufacturers and vendors from concept through scalable production
  • Perform complex design trade-off analysis to inform high-quality product decisions
  • Review schematics, PCB layouts, bring-up plans, validation plans, and test plans at component and system levels
  • Guide team on design considerations including stackups, component selection, and architecture for AR camera systems
  • Debug hardware issues in power quality, high-speed signal integrity, desense, and coexistence
  • Develop and model best practices for product development, engineering processes, and documentation
  • Provide direct ownership of critical deliverables to ensure on-time execution
  • Travel up to 15% for vendor collaboration and program reviews

Minimum Qualifications

  • 11+ years of post-Bachelor’s electrical or hardware engineering experience; or Master’s degree in a technical field + 10 years of post-grad electrical or hardware engineering experience; or PhD in a relevant technical field + 7 years of post-grad electrical or hardware engineering experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on engineering management experience
  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals with experience in consumer electronics or AR hardware
  • Experience leading teams in developing scalable hardware products from concept to production
  • Familiarity with Rigid, Flex, and Rigid Flex PCB design
  • Knowledge of electronic design tools including Cadence Allegro and OrCAD Capture
  • Ability to run technical programs with cross-functional collaboration

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Demonstrated experience developing and shipping AR or camera-based products at scale
  • Excellent process development and documentation skills
  • Experience with high-volume consumer electronics manufacturing
  • Proven track record in AR hardware innovation or wearable technology
