You'll collaborate with Product, Operations, Data Science, Engineering, and executive stakeholders to evaluate technical tradeoffs, mentor on mission-critical systems, and balance short- and long-term objectives. Focus on high-availability systems that power real-time AR features, Lens Studio enhancements, and Spectacles integrations, ensuring seamless, creative experiences for Snapchatters while fostering growth opportunities for your team.   • Manage and mentor a team of developers in a fast-paced, quick-to-market environment focused on camera and AR innovations
  • Set the strategy, build a roadmap, create measurable goals, and lead your team to deliver Snapchat features that power creative expression
  • Collaborate with Product, Operations, Data Science, and Engineering teams, as well as executive stakeholders, to advance AR and camera technologies
  • Evaluate technical tradeoffs of major decisions and serve as a strong technical mentor for building reliable, real-time systems
  • Hire, grow, and retain high-performing team members by creating growth opportunities, providing regular feedback, and managing performance
  • Balance near, medium, and long-term objectives to achieve business goals while laying foundations for scalable AR platforms
  • Drive innovation in high-availability systems that support hundreds of millions of Snapchatters daily
  • Champion privacy and precision in engineering practices aligned with Snap's creative culture

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field such as computer science or equivalent years of practical work experience
  • 8+ years of post-Bachelor’s software development experience; or a Master’s degree in a technical field + 7+ years of post-grad software development experience; or a PhD in a related technical field + 3+ years of post-grad software development experience
  • 1+ years of experience managing an engineering team
  • Experience with distributed systems and web development
  • Background in building high availability and mission-critical systems
  • Ability to lead and execute large, complex technical initiatives
  • Proven ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders at all levels

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on high-availability or real-time systems (e.g., messaging, payments, search, growth)
  • Familiarity with service oriented architecture and service orchestration
  • Track record of delivery in rapidly changing, highly collaborative, multi-stakeholder environments
