As a Product Quality Engineer, Level 5, in the Spectacles department, you’ll champion quality assurance for our cutting-edge AR eyewear, ensuring every pair delivers flawless camera performance, optical clarity, and real-world magic. Your impact will ensure Spectacles’ reliability empowers users to express themselves through AR Lenses in everyday moments. With 5+ years in QMS and product quality, plus Six Sigma experience, you’ll thrive in our fast-paced environment, analyzing data trends, managing deviations, and training teams. Familiarity with optics and image processing is a plus in our camera-first world. Base salary ranges: Zone A (CA, WA, NYC) $190,000-$284,000; Zone B $181,000-$270,000; Zone C $162,000-$241,000, plus RSUs. What You'll Do

  • Develop and implement product assurance plans and procedures aligned with contract manufacturers, adhering to ISO 9001, international standards, and Snap’s internal quality guidelines
  • Establish, validate, and manage incoming, in-process, and outgoing quality control requirements and inspections for Spectacles manufacturing operations
  • Oversee qualification of new tools, processes, and changes at contract manufacturers to ensure AR hardware reliability
  • Collaborate with internal Spectacles teams and external partners to apply appropriate product assurance rigor for camera and AR innovations
  • Lead root cause analysis for product and process discrepancies, developing corrective actions using tools like FMEA and SPC
  • Manage changes, deviations, and impact analysis throughout Spectacles product development projects
  • Provide quality leadership, guidance, and training to technical and operations teams on Snap OS-powered AR glasses
  • Ensure continued ISO 9001 compliance in product development, with a focus on Spectacles’ see-through AR capabilities
  • Analyze data trends, identify issues, and implement process improvements to enhance Spectacles quality and user experience
  • Engage with third-party manufacturers to align quality expectations for high-volume production of AR eyewear

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of post-Bachelor’s in engineering or scientific experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS) and end-to-end product quality
  • Master’s degree in engineering or scientific discipline + 4 years of post-grad experience, or PhD + 1 year of post-grad experience
  • Qualification and/or significant experience in Six Sigma or process improvement methodologies
  • Experience working with and managing partners or vendors in manufacturing environments
  • Strong background in implementing and managing QMS procedures aligned with ISO 9001 and international standards
  • Proven track record in manufacturing set-up, qualification, and oversight of contract manufacturers
  • Extensive experience with nonconformances, CAPAs, SCARs, and RMAs in product quality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with optics, image acquisition, and image processing technologies
  • Certified Lead Auditor certification
  • Six Sigma Certification (Black Belt or equivalent)
  • Experience in AR hardware or wearable technology development
  • Knowledge of camera systems and AR integration in consumer products
