About the Role

Snap Inc. is a camera company that believes AR will transform how people live, communicate, and experience the world. Our Spectacles team is pioneering next-generation AR glasses that overlay computing on reality, powered by cutting-edge cameras and lenses. We're seeking a Supplier-based Component Manufacturing Development Engineer to join our world-class R&D team in Spectacles, driving the production of innovative hardware that brings augmented reality to life. In this role, you'll collaborate with creative minds to craft components that meet our exacting standards for precision, durability, and aesthetics, enabling Snapchat users to capture and share moments in immersive AR. You'll develop and optimize manufacturing processes for plastics, metals, glass, and advanced materials, owning techniques like polishing, welding, bonding, and CNC to produce high-volume, cosmetic-grade parts for AR glasses. Partnering with Product Development, Industrial Design, and Supplier Quality, you'll align on specs, troubleshoot issues, and manage key suppliers across Asia (25-50% travel to China, Taiwan, and beyond). Your expertise will push our technology roadmap, integrating novel processes and trends to innovate in camera hardware and AR overlays, all while thriving in Snap's fast-paced, creative culture. Join a diverse team where bold ideas fuel human progress. With our 'default together' policy (4+ days/week in office), you'll collaborate dynamically to serve our community. Snap is an equal opportunity employer, committed to inclusion regardless of race, gender, orientation, disability, or veteran status. Our benefits—paid parental leave, comprehensive health coverage, mental health support, and equity—empower you to focus on innovation.

  • Optimize processes to resolve cosmetic and functional issues in high-precision Spectacles components
  • Collaborate with Product Development, Industrial Design, and Supplier Quality teams for material reviews and spec alignment
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage suppliers specializing in plastics, metals, and glass manufacturing
  • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues from development through production ramp-up
  • Provide technical guidance on manufacturing feasibility to internal teams advancing camera and AR tech
  • Stay current with industry trends in novel materials and processes to enhance Snap's AR glasses
