We’re looking for a Security Engineer, Application Security, Level 4, in Engineering to safeguard our innovative camera and AR technologies. In this role, you’ll conduct in-depth security reviews of applications, back-end services, and integrations that power Snapchat’s real-time camera features and AR Lenses. You’ll develop technical solutions and tooling for a secure development lifecycle, building scalable systems to prevent vulnerabilities while championing security and privacy in our fast-paced environment. Collaborating with product teams, you’ll implement preventative controls to protect user data in visual messaging and AR experiences, assist in incident response, and drive secure architecture for emerging Spectacles and AI/ML innovations. The ideal candidate thrives in Snap’s creative culture, with proven impact in AppSec domains like SAST/DAST testing, vulnerability assessment, and secure coding. What You'll Do

• Conduct in-depth security reviews of applications, back-end services, and business integrations powering Snapchat's camera features and AR experiences
• Build tooling for a secure development lifecycle to protect Snap's visual messaging and Lens Studio platforms
• Develop technical solutions to address security weaknesses in AR innovations and work with stakeholders to implement them
• Build systems at scale to prevent classes of vulnerabilities in high-traffic services reaching hundreds of millions of Snapchatters
• Assist with security incident response for camera-centric and AR-powered products
• Champion security and user privacy within Snap's creative culture of fast-moving innovation
• Collaborate with engineering teams to secure real-time features like Lenses and Spectacles integrations
• Drive implementation of preventative controls in partnership with product teams building fun, expressive experiences
• Prioritize tasks and work independently to safeguard Snap's global community
• Contribute to securing emerging technologies like AI/ML in AR and camera functionalities

Minimum Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent years of experience in a related technical field
• 2+ years post-Bachelor's security related experience; or Master's degree in a technical field + 1+ year of post-grad security experience; or PhD in relevant technical field
• Proven impact in three or more AppSec domains: Application Security Testing (SAST, DAST), Vulnerability Assessment, Secure Coding Practices, Security Architecture Design
• Proficiency in application security including security assessments, finding and mitigating vulnerabilities
• Strong software engineering skills in Golang, Java or similar (not scripting or automation)
• Passion for learning and helping others
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with high attention to detail

• Solid foundation in web security, mobile security, or cryptography
• Demonstrated proficiency in software development
• Experience with securing AI/ML systems
• Experience working in fast-paced, innovative tech environments like AR or camera technology
• Prior collaboration with product teams on secure development lifecycles

Compensation

$157,000-$235,000 annually

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
