In this role, you'll champion privacy at the forefront of our products—Snapchat's visual messaging, Lens Studio's AR platform, and Spectacles AR glasses—ensuring our hundreds of millions of Snapchatters can express themselves freely while safeguarding their data. You'll lead a talented team of privacy engineers and specialists, setting a vision that aligns cutting-edge privacy tech with Snap's innovative AR and camera features, all while moving fast with precision in our creative, collaborative culture. You'll integrate privacy principles seamlessly into product development, from real-time AR lenses to ephemeral snaps, enforcing governance frameworks that uphold data integrity amid global regulations like GDPR and CCPA. Collaborating with engineering, product, legal, and leadership teams, you'll advocate for strategic initiatives that balance innovation with compliance, leveraging technologies like differential privacy and cryptography to protect user data in machine learning-driven experiences. What You'll Do

  • Lead a team of highly talented privacy managers, engineers, and governance specialists, fostering growth, innovation, and collaboration within Snap's creative culture
  • Set the vision for privacy engineering and data governance, ensuring alignment with Snap’s business objectives in camera technology and AR innovation
  • Ensure privacy and data protection principles are seamlessly integrated into Snapchat, Lens Studio, Spectacles, and all Snap products and services
  • Establish and enforce data governance policies and frameworks to maintain data integrity, security, and compliance across global operations
  • Advocate for and influence strategic privacy initiatives at the highest leadership levels, balancing innovation with regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with internal engineering, product, legal, and external stakeholders to embed privacy-by-design in AR lenses and real-time camera features
  • Drive the adoption of privacy-enhancing technologies like differential privacy and federated learning to protect Snapchatters' data in visual messaging
  • Oversee privacy compliance for global regulations while enabling fast-paced development of fun, ephemeral content experiences
  • Mentor team members to innovate in privacy solutions tailored to Snap's hundreds of millions of daily users
  • Monitor and respond to emerging privacy risks in AR, machine learning models, and camera-based features
  • Partner with CISO staff to execute privacy programs that support Snap's mission of human progress through creative expression

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field such as computer science or equivalent practical work experience
  • 10+ years of post-Bachelor’s software development experience, or Master’s degree + 9+ years, or PhD + 6+ years post-grad experience
  • 4+ years of hands-on individual contributor experience in privacy engineering, data governance, access control, or compliance
  • 2+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager leading teams
  • Strong technical grasp of privacy fundamentals, machine learning, cryptography, data classification, and data lineage
  • Experience executing large, complex privacy programs and processes
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple engineering teams in fast-paced environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS/PhD in Privacy, Cryptography, Statistics, ML, or related field
  • Demonstrated technical leadership in privacy-enhancing technologies, machine learning, and analytical techniques for privacy at scale
  • Track record delivering large-scale projects in rapidly changing, highly collaborative, multi-stakeholder environments
