What You'll Do

  • Push the limits of mobile devices to deliver innovative camera and AR experiences on Android
  • Build smooth, stable, and fun products that power Snapchat's visual messaging and AR features
  • Develop end-to-end features from initial design through implementation, testing, and launch
  • Evaluate technical tradeoffs to optimize performance, privacy, and user experience
  • Collaborate with design and product teams to implement best UI/UX practices for AR and camera tech
  • Perform thorough code reviews to maintain high standards of code quality and reliability
  • Integrate advanced AR capabilities using Lens Studio tools to enhance Snapchat interactions
  • Optimize Android apps for real-time camera processing and Spectacles AR integration
  • Work cross-functionally to innovate on creative tools that empower Snapchatters to express themselves
  • Monitor and improve app performance for hundreds of millions of daily active users
  • Champion privacy-by-design in all engineering decisions for Snap's global community

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical work experience
  • 2+ years of post-Bachelor’s software development experience in Android development
  • Master’s degree in a technical field + 1+ year of post-grad software development experience, or PhD in a relevant technical field
  • Strong experience with Android application development using Kotlin and Java
  • Proficiency in modern Android tools and libraries such as RxJava and Dagger
  • Demonstrated ability to build smooth, stable, and performant mobile applications
  • Experience performing code reviews to ensure high code quality and best practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on large-scale, customer-facing mobile applications reaching millions of users
  • Background in camera technologies, AR development, or real-time visual effects
  • Familiarity with Snapchat's ecosystem, including Lens Studio or Spectacles AR hardware
  • Proven track record of launching features from design to production in a fast-paced environment
