Your work will power real-time interactions, optimize data at scale, and integrate cutting-edge camera technologies to make Spectacles a gateway to immersive, camera-first storytelling on Snapchat. What You'll Do

  • Design, implement, and operate features across Spectacles device and cloud to enrich AR experiences and fulfill our vision of spatial computing
  • Work with Product, Design, and partners across teams to understand product requirements and evaluate trade-offs
  • Deliver innovative solutions that push the boundaries of camera-first AR technology in Spectacles
  • Evaluate, appropriately test, and debug your work, striving for high quality in real-time AR interactions
  • Plan for roadmap, direct work for others, and lead by example by crafting high quality deliverables
  • Build scalable backend systems including distributed services and microservices to support Spectacles' standalone AR capabilities
  • Optimize low-latency services for seamless integration between Spectacles hardware and Snapchat ecosystem
  • Collaborate on AR innovations that empower users to express themselves, live in the moment, and connect in the real world
  • Troubleshoot and maintain mission-critical cloud infrastructure powering Spectacles' see-through AR experiences
  • Develop full stack features that enhance playing, learning, and working through Snap OS-powered glasses

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field such as computer science or equivalent years of practical work experience
  • 3+ years of experience with consumer-facing backend software development
  • 1+ years of experience in using TypeScript and Node.js to develop web frontend and backend
  • Experience with relational, NoSQL, or vector databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Pinecone) in a production environment
  • Proven ability to debug, troubleshoot, and operate mission-critical cloud-based systems in a production environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with high attention to detail
  • Experience in delivering top quality, performant and scalable code with extensive unit / functional testing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience with building and deploying low-latency, real-time backend services to support AR/VR devices, specifically on major cloud providers (e.g., AWS, GCP)
  • Experience with modern web front-end technologies (e.g., Next.js, Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui)
  • Deep understanding of database optimization, indexing, and high-availability patterns for data at scale
  • In-depth experience with Backend-as-a-Service (BaaS) platforms like Supabase or Firebase for rapid prototyping and production-scale deployment
  • Experience with SQL, NoSQL and vector databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Pinecone)
