We're seeking a Systems Engineer, Level 4, to join our Spectacles Systems, Integration and Test team. In this role, you'll build and manage the device fleet infrastructure powering next-gen AR hardware, ensuring seamless reliability for our world-class R&D efforts. Dive into the intersection of Spectacles' advanced camera systems, embedded software, and scalable testing environments to push the boundaries of what's possible in augmented reality. You'll architect automation frameworks, monitoring solutions, and custom hardware test rigs to support hundreds of Linux and MacOS hosts, while leveraging AI/ML for predictive troubleshooting and optimized performance. Collaborate with global teams in Mobile, Computer Vision, Electrical Engineering, and Snap's backend infrastructure to triage failures, scale systems, and innovate testing methodologies with robotics and data analytics. What You'll Do

  • Build and manage the entire Spectacles device fleet infrastructure for highest availability and reliability
  • Develop tools, services, and monitoring solutions for the Spectacles device lab
  • Triage and debug test execution and device failures in camera and AR hardware
  • Perform system maintenance, regular patching, and remediation efforts across Linux and MacOS hosts
  • Contribute to automation using configuration management, images, and templates at scale
  • Design well-documented services and tools leveraging commercial and open source software
  • Evaluate technical tradeoffs for scale, reliability, and cost optimization in AR testing
  • Innovate testing methodologies with robotics, data collection, and AI/ML-driven reporting
  • Design, build, and deploy custom hardware solutions for specialized Spectacles test cases
  • Automate mobile platforms, hardware, and firmware at large scale for wearables
  • Make data-driven decisions for infrastructure scaling and optimizations
  • Collaborate with global cross-functional teams in Mobile, Embedded, Computer Vision, EE, and Snap backend

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of post-Bachelor’s in Computer Science or Engineering experience building, automating and maintaining large scale systems (physical and/or cloud) in Unix/Linux environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
  • Experience in building, analyzing and troubleshooting large scale systems
  • Strong scripting and command-line skills with git proficiency
  • Experience building automation frameworks, pipelines and harnesses
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science or engineering
  • Experience working with AR/VR, wearables or other IoT Devices
  • Experience with data center operations and physical server infrastructure
  • Skilled with system automation tools for imaging, configuration management (Ansible a plus), and continuous deployment
  • Experience with AI/ML techniques for system optimization and troubleshooting
