Key Responsibilities at Rivian

In this Software Engineer Infrastructure DevOps role, you'll drive the backbone of Rivian's autonomy initiatives. Here are your core responsibilities:

• Build and deploy complex mission-critical infrastructure services for the ADAS team on cloud and on-premise systems.
• Design and implement fault-tolerant multi-region environments optimized for data operations and applications.
• Develop and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, ArgoCD, and GitOps patterns for apps and data projects.
• Participate in on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 reliability of production autonomy systems.
• Architect scalable microservices infrastructure using Kubernetes (EKS), AWS ECS, and distributed computing principles.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with ADAS engineers on development, testing, and integration workflows.
• Optimize AWS costs across multiple accounts, services like S3, RDS, EFS, and compute resources.
• Automate processes through Python, Go, or Java scripting to streamline operations and reduce manual toil.
• Monitor and debug production systems using Datadog, Prometheus, CloudWatch, and advanced observability tools.

Qualifications & Requirements

Rivian seeks proven DevOps engineers with hands-on experience in production environments. Key qualifications include:

• 2+ years in software engineering or DevOps roles, with 3+ years managing production infrastructure at scale.
• Extensive programming experience in Python, Go, or Java, plus GitLab for automation scripting.
• Deep AWS expertise: EKS, ECS, S3, RDS, EFS, Secrets Manager, CloudTrail, VPC networking, and compute services.
• Infrastructure as Code mastery with Terraform and configuration management tools.
• Proven track record with CI/CD and GitOps (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD).
• Experience building and operating Kubernetes-based microservices architectures.
• Strong skills in production debugging, Linux internals, networking, and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with monitoring stacks like Datadog, Prometheus, AWS CloudWatch.
• AWS or Cloud Native certifications highly preferred. Agile development experience a plus.

Salary & Benefits
