Key Responsibilities at Rivian

As a Senior Autonomy Systems Validation Engineer, your impact will be immediate and far-reaching:

• Design and develop comprehensive test plans for ADAS, Autonomy, Functional Safety (ISO 26262), and SOTIF validation.
• Execute and maintain automated scripts, scenarios, and tooling for data collection and performance analysis, focusing on Active Safety and Collision Avoidance.
• Operate robotic test equipment such as driving robots, ADAS platforms, and targets to meet current and future regulatory requirements.
• Troubleshoot and root cause software/hardware issues through vehicle data deep dives, collaborating with domain experts.
• Analyze test data against internal requirements, author reports, and recommend corrective actions to engineering teams.
• Support vehicle builds with bring-up, commissioning, instrumentation, and data logger installation/debugging.
• Drive and evaluate prototype software and competitor vehicles subjectively/objectively at facilities and on roads.
• Ensure regulatory compliance across US NCAP, FMVSS, IIHS, EU NCAP, and more.
• Manage fluid projects autonomously in a dynamic, high-stakes environment.

Qualifications & Requirements

Rivian seeks engineers who are organized, quick learners with a can-do attitude. Key qualifications include:

• 3+ years experience in ADAS, Autonomous Vehicles, Vehicle Testing, Vehicle Dynamics, or related fields.
• Technical degree: B.S. in Automotive, Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Mechatronics, Robotics, Aerospace, Systems, or Computer Science Engineering.
• Automotive expertise: Architecture, electrical systems, protocols (Ethernet, CAN, XCP), tools (Vector CANalyzer, CANape, PCAN, Vehicle Spy).
• Software skills: Integration, scripting (Python, Matlab, SQL), DVP process, JAMA, JIRA, Confluence, GIT.
• Hands-on pluses: ADAS sensors (Radar, LiDAR, Cameras), ground truth (OXTS, DGPS, VBOX), flashing/debugging, data acquisition, limit driving, regulations (ISO26262, Automotive SPICE).
• Essential soft skills: Analytical problem-solving, communication, collaboration, ability to work autonomously.

A valid US driver's license is required. Experience with prototype vehicles and certifications is highly preferred.
