Role Overview

We're building the next generation of cloud security at CrowdStrike, and we need passionate Sr. Backend Engineers to revolutionize threat detection. In this hybrid role based in our New York City office (visiting twice a week once established), you'll architect and implement a cutting-edge detection system processing billions of events across multi-cloud environments. Work on innovative technologies like custom query languages, event orchestration, and advanced correlation engines to detect sophisticated cloud-based threats. Collaborate with world-class security researchers to transform their expertise into scalable capabilities protecting organizations worldwide. Technology Stack

Key Responsibilities

As a Sr. Backend Engineer on the cloud detection engine team, your impact will be immediate and profound:

• Lead backend engineering efforts from rapid prototypes to large-scale applications across CrowdStrike products.
• Leverage and build cloud-based systems to detect targeted attacks and automate cyber threat intelligence at global scale.
• Brainstorm, define, and build collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Obsess over learning, championing new technologies to elevate the team's technical IQ.
• Mentor and be mentored on web, backend, and data storage technologies.
• Constantly re-evaluate products to enhance architecture, knowledge models, user experience, performance, and stability.
• Thrive with autonomy in a high-trust environment, delivering high-quality, unit-tested, code-reviewed software via continuous integration.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed, you'll bring:

• A degree in Computer Science or professional experience in data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Deep understanding of scalability and distributed systems, including sharding, partitioning, and concurrency.
• Team player mindset with thorough knowledge of engineering best practices—from testing paradigms to peer code reviews and resilient architecture.
• Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, test-driven, collaborative, iterative environments, meeting commitments with high-quality, regularly integrated code.

Bonus Points: Open-source contributions (GitHub, Stack Overflow, blogging), exposure to Go, Scala, AWS, Cassandra, Kafka, Elasticsearch; cybersecurity/intelligence experience; work on programming languages/compilers; interesting hobbies.
