Key Responsibilities at Rivian

In this high-impact role, you'll drive Rivian's consumer legal strategy with these core duties:

• Provide expert legal counsel on motor vehicle sales, optional accessories, remarketing, and dealership operations.
• Advise on retail installment sales, leasing, and seamless online-to-offline consumer experiences.
• Ensure full compliance with Reg Z, Reg M, ECOA, FCRA, FTC UDAAP guidelines, OFAC screening, and evolving regulations.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts with sales, marketing, and software partners.
• Deliver targeted legal and compliance training to customer-facing teams.
• Collaborate with software engineering and design for compliant customer interfaces and retail touchpoints.
• Develop scalable policies, legal documentation, knowledge resources, and regulatory toolkits.
• Partner cross-functionally to mitigate legal, compliance, and reputational risks across the consumer journey.
• Guide new product launches for vehicles, accessories, and connected software.

Other duties support Rivian's dynamic omnichannel retail and financing growth.

Qualifications & Requirements

To thrive as Sr. Counsel, Consumer Transactions at Rivian, you need:

• JD from an accredited law school and active bar membership.
• 6+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably in-house at EV, automotive, or fintech firms.
• Demonstrated expertise in motor vehicle sales, retail finance, and commercial contracting.
• Deep familiarity with consumer protection laws: Reg Z, Reg M, ECOA, FCRA, UDAAP, and more.
• Proven track record delivering high-impact training and guidance to non-legal teams.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach with strong business acumen.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% as needed.
