Key Responsibilities at Rivian

As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll drive Rivian's data transformation with these core responsibilities:

  • Own end-to-end design, development, and implementation of Facilities data pipelines and analytics catalog using ELT architecture
  • Build and maintain large-scale data pipelines from diverse internal and external sources into our Databricks datalake
  • Engineer bronze, silver, and gold tables establishing robust data ingestion and transformation layers
  • Develop modular data services leveraging SQL, Python, DBT, and AWS services while adhering to Data Governance policies
  • Automate and optimize data jobs for maximum performance and reliability
  • Implement comprehensive observability using Lakehouse Monitoring and Montecarlo for mission-critical datasets
  • Partner with Enterprise Data team to standardize data engineering best practices across Rivian
  • Enable Facilities leadership and domain analysts with structured, actionable data insights
  • Support large-scale capital programs and infrastructure projects with enterprise-grade data solutions

Qualifications & Requirements

Rivian seeks proven data engineering leaders with:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Business Analytics, Economics, or related field (Master's preferred)
  • 5+ years hands-on data engineering experience with deep data warehousing and best practices expertise
  • Expert-level proficiency in Databricks, Fivetran, SQL, Python, DBT, Git
  • Demonstrated AWS experience including S3, ECS, EMR, Lambda, Glue
  • Startup agility: Quick learner who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
  • Exceptional communication skills for stakeholder partnership and cross-functional collaboration
  • Preferred: Experience supporting capital programs, infrastructure, construction, or Commercial Real Estate (CRE) data ecosystems

Technical Stack Mastery Required: Databricks Lakehouse, Python automation, DBT modeling, AWS cloud services, Fivetran connectors, SQL optimization, Git version control, data observability tools.
