Key Responsibilities at Rivian

As a Sr. Design for Reliability Engineer, you'll lead efforts to embed reliability into every stage of product development:

• Set and communicate Reliability requirements, targets, and test plans for electronic components, subsystems, and assemblies including Infotainment, Sensors, and Harness PCBA.
• Conduct BOM reviews verifying IC selection meets industry standards and Rivian-specific requirements.
• Manage Part Change Notices (PCN) and Engineering Change Notices (ECN) with full requalification processes.
• Research failure mechanisms to develop robust validation plans and influence early design choices.
• Perform Functional Safety (FuSa) FIT Rate Calculations to ensure compliance and safety.
• Leverage fleet data and industry standards to define lifetime test requirements and mission profiles.
• Facilitate DFMEA sessions with suppliers and internal cross-functional teams.
• Apply statistical analysis like MTBF and Weibull to accelerated life testing and field data for predictive modeling.
• Drive reliability assessments in product design reviews, clearly communicating risks across development phases and for released products.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Master's degree strongly preferred).
• 3-5 years of hands-on industry experience in reliability engineering or design engineering roles.
• Deep domain knowledge in designing reliability for Semiconductors, ASIC chips, SOC, PMIC, RAM/ROM/Flash Memory.
• Proven experience deploying reliability testing guidelines to suppliers and facilitating DFMEAs internally and externally.
• Working knowledge of programming languages, with preference for Python for data analysis and automation.
• Experience with complex electronic and mechanical systems in automotive or high-tech environments.
• Expertise in failure analysis techniques such as optical microscopy, SEM, CSAM, X-ray, cross-sectioning, and EDX.
