Key Responsibilities at Rivian

• Design reliability directly into Rivian's chassis systems from concept through production phases
• Partner with design, validation, and manufacturing teams to resolve technical challenges
• Serve as the resident reliability expert for the chassis design engineering team
• Facilitate FMEAs and lead cross-functional teams in reliability improvements
• Apply physics of failure knowledge to mechanical systems failure analysis
• Develop and execute Highly Accelerated Testing (HALT/HASS) methodologies
• Analyze degradation mechanisms in mechanical and structural components
• Utilize Python scripting and statistical tools like JMP or ReliaSoft for reliability predictions
• Contribute to a fun, inclusive team culture that challenges conventional engineering approaches

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related engineering discipline
• 1+ years experience in reliability engineering (level adjusts based on qualifications)
• Proven experience facilitating FMEAs and leading cross-functional teams
• Working knowledge of Python for data analysis and automation
• Proficiency with statistical reliability software (JMP, ReliaSoft suite preferred)
• Deep domain knowledge in:
  • Physics of failure for mechanical systems
  • Degradation of mechanical/structural components
  • Mechanics of materials and fracture mechanics
  • Highly Accelerated Testing methods and failure mechanism equations

Bonus Qualifications: Experience in automotive chassis systems, EV development, or outdoor adventure product design.

Salary & Benefits

California Salary Range: $135,100 - $168,900 USD annually (determined by experience, qualifications, and location factors).
