The Sr. Digital Product Manager position at Symetra Financial offers a remote opportunity to lead digital product initiatives with full ownership. In this senior role, you will define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for sophisticated digital products, leveraging deep business and technical expertise. Handling multiple products or a single high-impact solution, you will guide case development, articulate value propositions, and make critical decisions on product evolution, replacement, or retirement. In this role, you will take full accountability for product success across the lifecycle. Responsibilities include developing and communicating product strategies that align with Symetra's enterprise objectives. You will collaborate closely with customers, business partners, and technology teams to secure resources and maintain healthy product lifecycles.
Applying Agile practices, you will deliver high-quality solutions, partnering with product owners to refine backlogs, manage risks, and drive continuous improvement. As the domain expert, tailor communications for diverse audiences, serve as the vendor point of contact, and use qualitative and quantitative data for impact measurement, ROI analysis, cost-benefit evaluations, and root-cause assessments.
Additionally, mentor junior product managers, champion user-centered design, stay abreast of industry trends, and model leadership behaviors while engaging in ongoing learning through communities of practice.
Symetra seeks candidates with a high school diploma (required) or bachelor’s degree (preferred), backed by 10-15 years of relevant work experience, including at least 3 years in a highly regulated industry or specialized domain such as insurance. Proven experience developing large-scale solutions from inception to completion in a leadership capacity is essential.
Candidates must demonstrate advanced analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills to transform ambiguous data into actionable insights. Strong leadership is key, with expertise in strategic direction, mentoring, influencing senior stakeholders, negotiations, consensus-building, and facilitation across large cross-functional groups.
Familiarity with management tools like Azure DevOps (ADO) or Jira, Agile practices, and certifications such as Scrum Product Owner or Scrum Master are highly valued. Knowledge of Group Benefits and/or Stop Loss insurance products is a plus. Some travel may be required, and candidates must meet Symetra’s Remote Network Minimum Requirements for internet connectivity as a remote-first organization.
