Role Overview

The Sr. Lead Counsel, Public Sector (Remote) is a pivotal leadership role within CrowdStrike's Legal team. Reporting to legal leadership, you'll serve as the primary legal advisor to our Public Sector Sales organization, enabling revenue growth while expertly managing legal and regulatory risks. This position demands deep expertise in U.S. federal, state, and local government contracting, especially commercial item acquisitions, and software licensing for cloud-based SaaS providers like our Falcon platform. Fully remote within the United States, with preference for Arlington, VA; DC Metro Area; Sunnyvale, CA; or Austin, TX, this role partners closely with Sales, Finance, Compliance, Security, Product, Professional Services, and Operations teams in a fast-paced, sales-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

As Sr. Lead Counsel, Public Sector, you'll drive the legal strategy for public sector growth:

• Lead and manage the Public Sector sale-side legal function, mentoring and developing attorneys and contracts professionals as the business scales.
• Draft, negotiate, revise, and review diverse agreements: federal/state/local contracts, SaaS agreements, partner/reseller deals, teaming agreements, NDAs, professional services agreements, SOWs, and subcontracts.
• Support opportunity qualification by reviewing RFIs, RFQs, solicitations, and proposals, including representations, certifications, OCI disclosures, and compliance requirements.
• Assess and resolve legal/business risks in public sector transactions, handling deviations from standard terms.
• Identify and drive resolutions for contractual, regulatory, or operational issues inconsistent with company processes or risk tolerance, collaborating across Legal, Sales, Finance, and more.
• Advise internal teams on rights, obligations, and compliance; support post-award matters like audits, disputes, and inquiries.
• Ensure flow-down of mandatory public sector terms to resellers, partners, and subcontractors.

Qualifications & Requirements

To excel, bring proven expertise:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school and active admission to at least one U.S. state bar.
• 7–12+ years of progressively responsible experience in federal, state, and local government contracting—particularly commercial item acquisitions—for tech companies offering cloud-based software/SaaS and professional services. Law firm + in-house mix preferred.
• Excellent knowledge of U.S. public sector procurement: FAR, DFARS, agency supplements, state/local laws, commercial principles.
• Strong experience with GWACs, IDIQs, BPAs, BOAs; supporting resellers, system integrators, channel partners.
• Proven negotiation of large, complex agreements from qualification to post-award.
• Superior communication, judgment, and ability to balance risk with business goals in high-pressure settings.
• Collaborative, 'roll up your sleeves' attitude managing competing priorities.

Bonus Points: Cybersecurity, cloud computing, or high-growth tech experience; familiarity with DFARS 252.204-7012, NIST SP 800-171.
