Job Description

About CrowdStrike

CrowdStrike stands as a global leader in cybersecurity, safeguarding the people, processes, and technologies powering modern organizations. Since 2011, our unwavering mission has been to stop breaches using the world's most advanced AI-native platform, CrowdStrike Falcon. We process nearly 3 trillion events daily across large-scale distributed systems, serving customers in every industry who rely on us to keep businesses operational, communities secure, and lives progressing. Our remote-first culture empowers every CrowdStriker with flexibility and autonomy to own their careers, fostering innovation and customer obsession in a mission-driven environment.

Role Overview

As a Sr. MacOS Sensor Engineer (Hybrid) in Redmond, Washington, you'll dive into researching and developing detection techniques for malicious macOS activity, transforming them into production-ready solutions for our endpoint sensor. This hybrid role, requiring 2-3 days weekly on-site, blends research with implementation alongside a nimble team of MacOS engineers. Leverage shared codebases with Windows and Linux platforms to build fast, reliable defenses integrated into the Falcon platform. Ideal for engineers passionate about macOS kernel and user space, continuous threat landscape learning, creative detection design, and disciplined coding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build detection logic and systems shared across CrowdStrike teams to detect cyber attackers and stop breaches using the Falcon platform.
  • Extend our existing codebase with Swift, C++, Python, and domain-specific languages (DSLs) as needed.
  • Research malicious activity detection techniques, including reverse engineering and big data analysis.
  • Apply engineering best practices like secure coding, testing, debugging, performance optimization, code reviews, CI/CD, and OS internals for reliable sensor code.
  • Troubleshoot customer-reported issues responsively and tackle assigned projects as a self-starting leader.

Qualifications & Requirements

To excel, bring 5+ years in reverse engineering, threat detection, malware analysis with on-device development interest, or high-quality software delivery in Swift, C/C++, Python, or Objective-C with security passion. Deep low-level knowledge of macOS and/or Linux internals, APIs, and frameworks is essential. Thrive as a team player who leads, mentors, communicates, and collaborates in distributed teams, articulating designs clearly to peers and management.

Bonus Points

  • Prior endpoint threat detection or sensor development experience.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Windows threat landscapes.
  • Expertise in macOS security frameworks, events, and recent developments.
  • Experience building 24/7 enterprise software with CI, testing, debugging, performance tracing, release management, telemetry, and issue resolution.

Benefits & Perks

CrowdStrike offers market-leading compensation from $140,000-$215,000 USD (with upside potential), plus equity awards. Enjoy comprehensive physical and mental wellness programs, competitive vacation and holidays, paid parental and adoption leaves, and professional development for all levels. Build connections through Employee Networks, geographic groups, and volunteer opportunities in our vibrant, world-class office culture. Certified as a Great Place to Work globally, we prioritize equal opportunity, supporting veterans and those with disabilities.

Career Growth

At CrowdStrike, career ownership is key in our remote-first culture. Gain limitless passion for innovation, mentorship from top engineers, and exposure to cutting-edge cybersecurity challenges. Advance by leading teams, contributing to the Falcon platform, and impacting global breach prevention. Our commitment to continuous learning keeps you ahead of evolving threats.
