Role Overview

The Sr Medical Scientist - Georgia South position is a field-based role within Gilead's US Medical Affairs team, focusing on HIV Treatment and Prevention. Based in the Atlanta Metro area, this role reports to the USMA Southeast HIV Field Director. As a Senior Medical Scientist (MSL), you'll serve as a scientific partner to key healthcare decision-makers, including those in public health, academic institutions, and community providers across Georgia South.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering timely, accurate clinical, scientific, and educational presentations to healthcare providers on HIV Treatment and Prevention, adhering to PhRMA guidelines and FDA requirements.
  • Implementing goals and objectives from the Medical Affairs Plan, including strategic relationship-building with thought leaders.
  • Providing field insights on treatment practices and trends to strategy and competitive intelligence teams.
  • Participating in advisory boards, educational programs, speaker training, and clinical conferences.
  • Collaborating with Global Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Commercial, and other functions.
  • Responding to clinical inquiries on marketed and developmental Gilead products, presenting complex data.
  • Identifying and developing opinion leaders, training speakers, and supporting Phase IV programs and clinical trials.
  • Maintaining compliance with all pharmaceutical codes, OIG guidelines, and Gilead policies while completing administrative tasks.

Qualifications & Requirements

Gilead seeks candidates with proven expertise in HIV Medical Affairs. Essential qualifications include:

  • Advanced degree in life sciences, pharmacy, or related field (PharmD, MD, PhD preferred).
  • 3+ years of field-based Medical Science Liaison or similar experience in HIV or infectious diseases.
  • Deep knowledge of HIV treatment landscapes, clinical data, and regulatory environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills for presentations, relationship-building, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Willingness to travel frequently (up to 70%) within Georgia South and occasionally beyond.
  • Strong organizational skills, with ability to manage administrative duties and resolve field challenges collaboratively.

Must be located in or willing to relocate to Atlanta Metro, with valid driver's license and ability to work independently.
