Key Responsibilities at Rivian

As a Senior Power Electronics Engineer, you'll drive innovation in EV charging technology with these core responsibilities:

  • Design high-power electrical circuits: Develop active rectifiers, inverters, and DC-DC converters for Rivian's charging ecosystem.
  • Lead circuit development: Handle component selection, schematic creation, PCBA layout, and magnetic design.
  • Perform trade studies: Analyze key decisions to optimize performance, cost, and reliability.
  • Simulate circuits expertly: Use Matlab, PLECS, and other tools for precise modeling and validation.

  • Familiarity with topologies: multi-phase boost PFC, dual active bridge, LLC, etc.
  • Expertise in high-power EV chargers, energy storage, or stationary converters.
  • Deep knowledge of power semiconductors (SiC, GaN, Silicon) and characteristics.
  • Strong inverter/converter design including gate drivers.
  • Experience with Spice, PLECS, Mathcad, Ansys, Matlab and FEA tools like Ansys Maxwell/Q3D.
  • PCB layout proficiency using Altium.
  • EMC requirements, safety certification exposure.
