Role Overview

As a Sr. Software Engineer - Applied AI (Hybrid) based in Redmond, Washington, you'll join an AI-first applied engineering team transforming operations and infrastructure at scale. This role blends deep AI engineering with robust software discipline to productionize cutting-edge AI methods. Work with LLMs, orchestration frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, and MCP, retrieval pipelines, and evaluation harnesses to deliver copilots, automated decision engines, and large-scale migration frameworks. Ensure systems are trustworthy, measurable, and safe through rigorous evaluation gates, grounding, and hallucination detection. Success means shipping AI applications that engineers depend on daily—from incident-triaging copilots to adaptive configuration recommenders and multi-repo code migration services. Collaborate with SRE, Security, and Infrastructure Foundations teams in a hybrid setup (1-3 days in-office weekly).

Key Technologies and Focus Areas

Leverage Python and Go for SDKs/APIs, JavaScript/React for intuitive UIs, and modern frameworks for multi-step workflows. Partner with AI Platform for inference, SRE/Infra for operational context, and Security for safe AI usage.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you'll drive impactful AI innovations:

• Build and ship LLM-powered systems reducing toil, accelerating remediation, and enhancing decision-making in operations.
• Design evaluation frameworks including hallucination tests, regression harnesses, benchmarks, and quality gates for safe rollout.
• Develop retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines grounded in logs, telemetry, runbooks, and metadata.
• Engineer AI copilots and natural-language interfaces for seamless interaction with operational data and workflows.
• Create frameworks for large-scale automation like safe code migrations and transformation pipelines.
• Apply adaptive AI for optimizing configurations, predicting anomalies, and recommending preventive actions.
• Implement guardrails: prompt injection defenses, PII filtering, constrained decoding, and model observability.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience shipping LLM-based systems to production with measurable impact.
• Expertise in LLM evaluation: benchmarks, hallucination/regression tests, grounding metrics.
• Strong Python and Go programming skills.

• Deep RAG understanding: embeddings, retrieval metrics, re-ranking, precision/recall.
• Ability to translate ambiguous ops problems into AI solutions with clear KPIs.
