Role Overview

Choice Hotels seeks a proactive Sr. Software Engineer for its SkyTouch Technology division in Scottsdale, Arizona. This individual contributor role reports to the Engineering Manager and involves collaborating with 4+ peer teammates and cross-functional departments. You will take technical ownership across the full development lifecycle, shaping the next generation of cloud-based hotel management software. Key Technologies and Focus

Leverage Java, Python, React, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, SQL/PostgreSQL, AWS, CI/CD pipelines, event-driven architectures, and monitoring tools to design and implement complex features. This role demands a proactive leader who excels in ambiguity, mentors juniors, and champions engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities

As Sr. Software Engineer, you will:

• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team.
• Act as a technical leader and cross-functional collaborator in broader engineering discussions.
• Lead system design and implementation of complex features using core technologies like Java, Python, and React.
• Define technical approaches, guide sprint planning, estimation, and ensure high-quality, timely delivery.

• Lead incident response, postmortems, and long-term application health improvements.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 7 years designing and building enterprise-grade software with Java.
• Proficiency in Python, React, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, SQL/PostgreSQL, AWS, CI/CD, event-driven architectures, and monitoring tools.
• Proven leadership in technical initiatives and mentoring.
