About CrowdStrike

CrowdStrike is a global leader in cybersecurity, protecting people, processes, and technologies that power modern organizations. Since 2011, our mission has remained unwavering: stop breaches before they happen. We've redefined security with the world's most advanced AI-native platform, the Falcon platform, processing nearly 3 trillion events daily—a volume that's growing rapidly. Our customers across all industries rely on us to keep businesses running, communities safe, and lives moving forward. At CrowdStrike, we foster a remote-first culture that emphasizes flexibility, autonomy, and ownership, empowering every CrowdStriker to shape their career while contributing to a mission that truly matters.

Role Overview

As a Sr. Software Engineer - Data in our London hybrid role, you'll join the data engineering team building a hyper-scale data lake to detect bad actors and prevent breaches. This team centralizes Falcon platform data, enabling seamless access for analytics, machine learning, and threat hunting. You'll work across the full stack—from foundational processing and storage to scalable pipelines and user-facing tools. Your primary focus: owning the development of our new graph database. Leverage Java microservices, Spark/Scala (with some Flink), Kubernetes, and AWS tooling in a high-stakes environment processing petabytes of data.

Key Technologies

Core stack includes Java, Apache Spark, Scala, Kubernetes, and AWS services. Desirable: Go, Pinot, Iceberg, Jenkins, Parquet, Protocol Buffers/gRPC. This hybrid London role requires no relocation support.

Key Responsibilities

In this senior role, you'll drive impactful work on ultra-high-scale systems:

  • Write highly fault-tolerant Java code within Apache Spark to create platform products for querying event pipelines and delivering threat trend insights.
  • Design, develop, and maintain data platforms handling petabytes of data daily.
  • Participate in technical reviews, develop new features, and enhance product stability.
  • Continuously optimize high-performance services for efficiency and low latency to exceed customer expectations.
  • Research and implement innovative querying methods, allowing internal teams and customers to extract data in their preferred formats efficiently.

Qualifications & Requirements

We're seeking proven senior talent with:

  • 10+ years combined in backend/cloud development and data platform engineering.
  • 5+ years building data products/features with Apache Spark, Flink, Iceberg, or GCP equivalents.
  • 5+ years programming in Java, Scala, or Kotlin.
  • Proven end-to-end ownership of robust features/products, especially from vague specs.
  • Deep expertise in algorithms, distributed systems design, and SDLC.
  • Experience with large-scale data/event pipelines and SQL/NoSQL databases (Postgres/MySQL, Cassandra, DynamoDB).
  • Strong TDD discipline and Linux admin skills.
  • Ability to thrive in remote teams.

Desirable: Go, Pinot/OLAP databases, Iceberg, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Parquet, gRPC.

Benefits & Perks

CrowdStrike offers market-leading rewards in a Great Place to Work™ certified environment:

  • Top-tier compensation and equity awards.
  • Comprehensive physical and mental wellness programs.
