RESUME AND JOB
CrowdStrike
CrowdStrike stands as a global leader in cybersecurity, safeguarding people, processes, and technologies that power modern organizations. Since 2011, our unwavering mission has been to stop breaches using the world's most advanced AI-native platform, the Falcon platform. We process nearly 3 trillion events daily across large-scale distributed systems, with traffic growing relentlessly. Serving customers across all industries, CrowdStrike ensures businesses run smoothly, communities stay safe, and lives progress securely. Our remote-first culture empowers every CrowdStriker with flexibility and autonomy to own their careers, fostering innovation and a fanatical commitment to customers, community, and each other.
As a Sr. Software Engineer - Data (GBR, Hybrid) in London, United Kingdom, you'll join the data engineering team building a hyper-scale data lake to detect bad actors and prevent breaches. This role spans foundational processing, scalable pipelines, and tools for analytics, machine learning, and threat hunting. Primary tools include Java microservices, Spark/Scala (with some Flink), Kubernetes, and AWS. You'll own the new graph database, driving its development from inception. Contribute to centralizing Falcon platform data, making it accessible for internal teams and customers in the fight against cyber threats.
In this critical position, you'll deliver high-impact work on petabyte-scale systems. Key responsibilities include writing highly fault-tolerant Java code within Apache Spark to create platform products for querying event pipelines and gaining insights into threat trends. You'll design, develop, and maintain ultra-high-scale data platforms, participate in technical reviews to enhance features and stability, and optimize services for efficiency and low latency. Additionally, research innovative querying methods, enabling stakeholders and customers to extract data in desired formats swiftly.
Expect to own end-to-end solutions, from data ingestion to advanced analytics frameworks, directly supporting CrowdStrike's mission to stop breaches before they escalate.
To succeed, bring 10+ years of combined experience in backend/cloud development and data platform engineering. Require 5+ years building data products with Apache Spark, Flink, Iceberg, or GCP equivalents, plus 5+ years programming in Java, Scala, or Kotlin. Proven track record owning robust feature designs from vague specs is essential, alongside expertise in algorithms, distributed systems, and the software development lifecycle. Demonstrate skills in large-scale data/event pipelines, SQL/NoSQL databases (Postgres/MySQL, Cassandra, DynamoDB), test-driven development, Linux tools, and remote team collaboration.
Bonus points for Go, Pinot or time-series/OLAP databases, Iceberg, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Parquet, and Protocol Buffers/gRPC.
CrowdStrike offers market-leading compensation and equity awards, comprehensive physical and mental wellness programs, competitive vacation and holidays, paid parental and adoption leaves, and professional development for all employees. Build connections through Employee Networks, geographic groups, and volunteer opportunities in a vibrant, world-class office culture. Certified as a Great Place to Work globally, we prioritize belonging, equal opportunity, and support for veterans and individuals with disabilities.
Thrive in a remote-first culture that values autonomy and innovation. Access endless professional development, regardless of level, to advance your expertise in cybersecurity data engineering. Own your career trajectory while contributing to groundbreaking Falcon platform enhancements.
