The Sr. Specialist, Quality Compliance role at Cardinal Health's Aurora, CO facility integrates Health Physics, Radiation Safety, Quality Compliance, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS). As a primary technical contributor, you will own radiation safety programs, manage radioactive waste, and support EHS initiatives in radiopharmaceutical manufacturing. This position emphasizes ALARA principles, regulatory compliance, training, and risk reduction, operating in a controlled environment with routine monitoring. Salary range: $63,800 - $82,260 USD annually, with opportunities for growth in a dynamic healthcare setting.
Serve as the primary point of contact for Radiation Safety activities, supporting the site program. Apply ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles to assess radiological hazards, work practices, and process changes. Conduct impact assessments for new equipment and participate in incident investigations, audits, and regulatory interactions. Demonstrate proficiency with radiation detection instrumentation.
Support hazard assessments, injury investigations, and contractor management. Implement safety programs including LOTO, electrical safety, confined spaces, machine guarding, and fall protection. Own waste management from characterization to vendor coordination. Lead the site safety committee and contribute to EHS metrics and continuous improvement.
Deliver hands-on training for EHS and Radiation Safety. Develop and revise SOPs to align with regulations and operations. Ensure competency across employees, supervisors, and contractors.
A degree in Health Physics, Environmental Science, Safety, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, along with equivalent experience. Candidates need 3+ years in Health Physics, EHS, or regulated manufacturing, ideally with 2+ years handling radioactive materials and managing waste programs. Strong knowledge of NRC, DOT, OSHA, EPA, and RCRA regulations is essential. Excellent communication, analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure are required. Experience in training and procedure development is a plus.
