Key Responsibilities at Rivian

  • Develop Hardware FTA, FMEA, FMEDA & DFA for electrical hardware designs in power conversion systems.
  • Serve as the go-to safety expert in cross-functional design reviews for safety-critical decisions.
  • Derive mission profiles and FIT rates with the reliability team using IEC or Siemens standards.
  • Craft hardware safety concepts, architecture, and requirements for electronics subsystems including ASICs, SoCs, PMICs.
  • Support software safety analysis (FTA, FMEA) and requirements development.
  • Build traceability matrices linking safety requirements to test cases in JAMA or similar tools.
  • Create Design Verification Plans (DVP) with fault injection testing for safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with test teams on executing and troubleshooting safety test cases.

  • Drive functional safety culture organization-wide.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • MS, BS, or PhD in Electrical/Electronic Engineering plus 10+ years in ISO 26262 Parts 4,5,8 or IEC 61508 functional safety.
  • Expertise in failure mode analysis: FTA, FMEDA, DFA, STPA, SPFM/LFM, PMHF for power electronics.
  • Embedded systems design and advanced electrical circuit analysis experience.
  • Hands-on hardware FTA/FMEDA/DFA at component level, preferably power electronics.
  • Proficiency with JAMA traceability tools, Medini/Plato, LTSpice simulation.
  • Cross-functional experience with hardware, software, mechanical, manufacturing teams.
  • Resilient mindset with out-of-the-box thinking to exceed deadlines.
