The SRE Design & Support Engineer role at PepsiCo is pivotal in implementing Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to ensure resilient, high-performing applications across a portfolio of 260+ digital products. Focused on cloud architecture, full-stack development, B2B PepsiConnect, Direct-to-Customer platforms, and S&T roadmap applications, this position blends software engineering, IT operations, and analytics. You'll drive shift-left activities, proactive incident prevention, and automation to deliver delightful customer experiences while minimizing business impact. This full-time role reports into a global team, emphasizing observability, error budgets, and AI Ops adoption in a modern, distributed cloud environment.
Engage product and engineering teams early to define events, logging, monitoring, and observability standards. Ensure non-functional requirements like SLA/SLO/SLI and error budgets are integral to offerings.
Diagnose anomalies before user impact, orchestrate end-to-end ecosystem remediations, and prevent P1/P2 incidents using SRE tools and automation across cloud-architected applications.
Participate in escalations, blameless postmortems, and empower customer-facing teams with SRE insights. Optimize L2 operations through workflow automation and drive AI Ops across teams.
Observe and improve full-stack application interactions, shape SRE orchestration platforms with inputs from production ops, business, and engineering.
Candidates need a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Require 3-5 years of experience evolving into SRE, with hands-on expertise in transforming IT operations. Key technical skills include Python, SQL/NoSQL databases (MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, PostgreSQL), monitoring tools (AppDynamics, ELK Stack, Grafana, Splunk, Dynatrace), Kafka, and SRE Ops toolsets. Proficiency in cloud architecture (Azure/AWS), front-end (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React/Angular/Vue.js), and back-end (Java, Spring Boot, APIs) is essential. Prior experience shaping SRE solutions for events, diagnostics, performance, and alerts is a plus. Strong analytics, influence, and collaboration skills are critical for this role.
