Role Overview

The SRE Design & Support Engineer role at PepsiCo in Miguel Hidalgo, Mexico City, is pivotal in advancing Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices across our digital product portfolio of 260+ applications. This position focuses on cloud architecture, full-stack development, B2B PepsiConnect, Direct-to-Customer platforms, and S&T roadmap initiatives. As a self-driven engineer with a software mindset, you'll drive shift-left activities to embed resilience, prevent incidents, and ensure delightful customer experiences for consumer, commercial, supply chain, and enablement functions. Blend technical expertise in SRE tools, modern cloud apps, IT operations, analytics, and influence to maintain service performance, reliability, and availability.

Key Responsibilities

Your impact as SRE Design & Support Engineer includes:

• Engaging product and engineering teams early to define and enforce events, logging, monitoring, and observability standards.
• Embedding non-functional requirements (NFRs) like SLA/SLO/SLI and error budgets into engineering solutions.
• Proactively preventing P1/P2 incidents, diagnosing anomalies pre-user impact, and remediating via automation and SRE orchestration.
• Collaborating on escalations, blameless postmortems, and empowering customer-facing teams with SRE insights.
• Observing and improving end-to-end ecosystem performance in full-stack cloud applications alongside peer SREs.
• Optimizing L2/support operations through workflow automation and shaping the SRE orchestration platform.
• Driving AI Ops adoption across teams for enhanced reliability.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed, you need:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 3-5 years evolving to SRE, with experience transforming IT operations.
• Hands-on expertise in Python, SQL/NoSQL (MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, PostgreSQL), AppDynamics, ELK Stack, Grafana, Splunk, Dynatrace, Kafka, and SRE toolsets.
• Strong grasp of cloud architecture in distributed environments (Azure/AWS).
• Full-stack proficiency: Front-end (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Angular, Vue.js); Back-end (Java, Spring Boot, APIs, databases); Infrastructure (cloud platforms).
• Bonus: Experience shaping SRE transformations, designing diagnostics, performance measures, and alerts.
