Role Overview

The SRE Lead Design & Support Engineer role at PepsiCo in Miguel Hidalgo, Mexico City, is a pivotal position within our global team. In this role, you'll drive SRE shift-left activities to embed quality assurance into application design and project roadmaps, enabling resilient outcomes. Proactively apply orchestration to connect ecosystem components, diagnose anomalies before they affect users, and remediate via automation. Ensure ecosystem availability and performance in production, preventing high-severity incidents. Engage product and engineering teams early to define events, logging, monitoring, and observability standards. Institute non-functional requirements (NFRs) like SLA/SLO/SLI and error budgets into offerings. Lead cross-team diagnostics and remediations, participate in escalations and blameless postmortems, and empower support teams with SRE insights. Observe and improve end-to-end performance of modern full stack applications, optimize operations workflows, shape SRE platforms, and drive AI Ops adoption.

Qualifications & Requirements

We seek candidates with 8+ years evolving into SRE engineering, including 3-5 years transforming IT operations. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required. Proven experience designing events diagnostics, performance measures, and alerts to meet SLA/SLO/SLIs is essential. Ideal candidates are highly quantitative, with strong judgment to connect ecosystem dots, and excel in cross-functional collaboration. You must take a pragmatic approach to incident resolution, triangulating root causes systemically while working with internal and external teams. Expertise in SRE principles, modern cloud architecture, full stack applications, IT operations, analytics, and influence skills is critical.
