As a Staff Battery Pack Engineer at Ford in Long Beach, CA, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and optimizing battery packs for Ford's electric vehicle lineup. This senior-level position demands expertise in electrochemical systems, thermal management, and high-volume manufacturing. Reporting to the Battery Systems Engineering Manager, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust, high-performance battery solutions that meet stringent automotive standards. Develop and execute rigorous testing protocols, including abuse testing, cycle life evaluation, and environmental simulations. Analyze data from battery management systems (BMS) to refine performance and reliability.
Partner with propulsion, chassis, and software teams to ensure seamless battery integration. Support supplier qualification and scale-up to high-volume production.
Stay ahead of industry trends in solid-state batteries and next-gen chemistries. Ensure all designs comply with ISO 26262, UN 38.3, and SAE J2464 standards.
To excel as a Staff Battery Pack Engineer at Ford, candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field; a Master's or PhD is highly preferred. You bring 7+ years of hands-on experience in lithium-ion battery pack design for automotive or aerospace applications.
