Role Overview

The Staff Data Engineer position in Scottsdale, Arizona, offers a pivotal opportunity within the SkyTouch Technology division. This individual contributor role reports to the Manager of Software Engineering - Data and collaborates with 14 peer teammates and cross-functional departments. As a hybrid position requiring four days onsite at our North Scottsdale office, it demands a systems-level thinker ready to architect enterprise-wide data solutions. Key Responsibilities

In this senior role, you will define and evolve long-term data architecture and standards across platforms. Design highly scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient data systems leveraging AWS technologies. Lead complex, cross-domain initiatives spanning multiple teams and business functions. Act as a technical escalation point, establishing best practices for data quality, observability, security, and governance. Partner with leaders to translate strategic goals into technical solutions, mentor senior engineers, and proactively address systemic risks while balancing short-term delivery with platform sustainability.

Qualifications & Requirements

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word is essential. Bring a minimum of 8+ years in data engineering, software engineering, or platform engineering, with proven expertise in designing large-scale AWS data platforms. Demonstrate ownership of mission-critical systems, expert knowledge of cloud data architectures, advanced data modeling, and strong programming in Python, SQL, and Spark. Expertise in distributed systems, IaC, CI/CD, data governance, and root-cause analysis is required. This onsite hybrid role in Scottsdale, Arizona, is not eligible for sponsorship.
