Key Responsibilities at Rivian

As a senior contributor, you'll lead critical development phases:

  • Develop highly technical on-vehicle power electronics components and packaging from concepts to production
  • Lead PCBA contract manufacturing as the primary Design Release Engineer (DRE)
  • Drive cross-functional discussions on mechanical packaging, manufacturability, and production processes
  • Partner with electrical engineering to enhance PCBA mechanical design and thermal performance
  • Manage component suppliers through complete DFM execution and development timelines
  • Execute design releases through PLM Enovia system with production launch teams
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective resolutions for mechanical design issues
  • Support product production launches and ramp-ups at Rivian manufacturing facilities
  • Host weekly meetings with suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and develop comprehensive engineering implementation plans

Qualifications & Requirements

Rivian seeks proven leaders with specialized expertise:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field (required)
  • 6+ years professional experience in high voltage automotive power electronics product development
  • Deep technical knowledge of power device cooling and thermal management systems
  • Advanced proficiency with CATIA CAD tools for complex mechanical assemblies
  • Demonstrated automotive supplier management experience with successful DFM executions
  • Hands-on manufacturing process knowledge including sheet metal stamping, casting, wiring harness, and plastic injection molding
  • Proven ability to manage multiple challenging projects independently
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities with positive, proactive attitude

Southern California Salary Range: $137,800 - $172,520 annually (actual compensation determined by experience, skills, and other factors permitted by law).
