Key Responsibilities at Datadog

• Design and build automation systems to provision, configure, and manage Datadog’s global networking infrastructure across AWS, GCP, and Azure.
• Enable one-click regional bootstrapping, fully automated teardown processes, and comprehensive validation pipelines for rapid global expansion.
• Improve the safety, speed, and correctness of infrastructure changes, minimizing downtime in production environments.
• Lead cross-functional technical initiatives that reduce manual operations and eliminate error-prone workflows entirely.
• Balance reliability, security, and cost efficiency while scaling networking infrastructure to handle massive global traffic volumes.
• Mentor engineers across the organization, conduct code reviews, and raise the overall technical bar.
• Deep dive into Kubernetes orchestration, Envoy proxies, DNS traffic management, and Terraform automation to optimize Fabric's capabilities.
• Collaborate with observability, security, and platform teams to ensure seamless integration with Datadog's core monitoring products.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed as a Staff Software Engineer – Fabric at Datadog, you'll bring:

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent scientific field, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of relevant engineering experience, including acting as a technical lead on complex projects.
• Proven experience building large-scale distributed systems that operate reliably in production at global scale.
• Strong programming skills in Go, Rust, C++, or Java, with a portfolio of production-grade infrastructure code.
• Deep familiarity with cloud networking (AWS, GCP, Azure), Kubernetes, proxies/load balancers like Envoy, DNS, traffic management, and IaC tools like Terraform.
