Job Description: 

We’re looking for talented, driven Polytechnic graduates to join our 12-month SME Banking Apprenticeship Programme. Over a year, you’ll get involved with real world projects, learn on the job and build your network across the Bank.

 

SME Banking (SME) within Standard Chartered Bank aims to provide companies in Singapore a suite of product that meets their operating and financing requirements. This includes assisting the SME Relationship Manager to grow and deepen SME Banking client relationships through effective relationship management, with focus on SME clients’ total business needs and cross-selling products to the new and existing SME clients to maximise the clients’ affinity to the Bank. The SME Banking team sits within our global Wealth and Retail Banking business.

We service more than 13 million individuals and small businesses, with a focus on the affluent segment which encompasses Private Banking, Priority Private, Priority Banking, and Premium. We’re investing USD $1.5 billion in our Affluent banking business. Our investment focuses on affluent frontline teams, wealth and digital platforms, and client centres, as well as brand and marketing, to drive growth. You’ll join a growing franchise within Standard Chartered Group.

What You’ll Be Doing

 

As part of the SME Banking team, you’ll get involved with projects such as:

 

  • Building prospects via marketing calls and expand existing customer relationships through pro-active customer contact and account management.
  • Assisting Relationship Managers (RMs) in sales closures, providing excellent customer service  
  • Understanding the client onboarding process for SME Banking, including product and lending programmes.
  • For borrowing clients, partnering Relationship Managers and Credit Analysts to perform end-to-end Business Credit Applications and/or annual reviews.
  • Learning the products available to SME clients, including all cash management, loans, trade, investments, insurance, and hedging solutions.
  • Giving regular feedback to management on product, processes based on customer feedback.

About the Apprenticeship Programme

 

During this learning journey, you will embark on two 6-month long rotations. You will be exposed to different projects and tasks, alongside structured training, mentorship and on-the-job learning. Through the programme, you’ll experience an incredible and varied global learning experience, which include:

Eligibility

 

We welcome graduates from all Polytechnic Diploma disciplines with less than 2 years of working experience. You’ll also:

 

  • Have the permanent legal right to work in Singapore
  • A keen interest in Banking and Finance industry
  • Good customer service skills
  • Good telemarketing skills and a willingness to engage customers via tele-conversations
  • Strength as a team player
  • Be self-driven, self-motivated, with a proactive approach toward resolving issues
  • Be responsive, contactable and accountable to clients and internal stakeholders.
